MumKIND is a registered charity established to assist South Australians who are facing adverse circumstances, including homelessness, unemployment, domestic abuse and/or poverty, while also raising children. MumKIND provides its support through targeted campaigns designed to acquire basic necessities and other provisions - we distribute these items through partnerships with local social services agencies such as Women’s Safety Services South Australia, AnglicareSA, Catherine House and Centacare’s Louise Place, Malvern, Findon & Coolock House as well as Uniting SA and more. We don’t duplicate the important work of these agencies, but rather – we work closely with them to add a layer of care and support for the families within their programs. We ask questions and have meaningful conversations to best understand what these families need most, and also what they most want. We of course want to appease some of their burning needs that enable them to better survive, but also we want to restore some hope and joy to them and sometimes this comes from simple gestures like a gift of books, lipstick or nail polish.
